Wedding bar ideas: a corner for every moment
Updated
A bar corner is a station given over to one thing only: the gin and tonic, the beer, the shots, the spritz. It is added to the main counter and gives your guests somewhere else to go. It works best to tie each corner to a precise moment of the party: the aperitivo, the end of dinner, the dancing.
Below you will find the ideas we bring to weddings, moment by moment. They are chosen together when we prepare your quote.
| Moment | Ideas |
|---|---|
| Aperitivo | Spritz fountain, cocktails in small bottles |
| Dinner | Bar cart |
| End of dinner | Espresso martini tower |
| Dancing | Shot corner, tequila tower |
| For a favourite drink | Gin or tequila bar, beer corner |
At the aperitivo: the spritz fountain and cocktails in small bottles
At the aperitivo the guests arrive all at once, as soon as the ceremony ends: it is the moment when the counter works hardest. A corner where guests pour their own spritz, or a tray that goes round the groups, both help to shorten the queue. For the aperitivo we bring two ideas.
Spritz fountain
A fountain that pours the spritz already made: guests pour it into a glass, with ice and a slice of orange. It suits the open air, while the guests are arriving, and it leaves the counter free for the other cocktails. See the spritz fountain.
Cocktails in small bottles
The cocktail arrives in a small glass bottle, closed with a cork and a straw, and is drunk just like that, without a glass. The little bottles go round on a tray among the guests, next to something to eat with your hands: a quick sip, between one conversation and the next. See the mini cocktail bottles.
At dinner: the bar cart
During dinner the guests are seated, and for once it is the bar that goes to them. The bar cart is a trolley that moves between the tables: the bartender mixes the cocktail in front of the guest and serves it where they are sitting. It usually carries the espresso martini, or a small cocktail menu.
Nobody has to get up from the table, and you watch the cocktail being made up close. We bring it to gala dinners and corporate events too. See the bar cart.
At the end of dinner: the espresso martini tower
At the end of dinner the espresso martinis arrive, a lot of them and all at once: we carry them to the tables, or we set them out on a tower where each guest picks up their own. Guests travelling from abroad ask for it often, and it is the moment when dinner gives way to the party.
If some of your guests are arriving from abroad, say so in your request: our team speaks English. See the espresso martini tower.
During the dancing: shot corner and tequila tower
When the dancing starts you want quick corners, where a drink goes down in one and you are back on the floor. The shot corner is a corner of the bar given over to shots alone, usually tequila, with salt and lime. The tequila tower is a different thing: a round of shots served from a tower of small glasses.
Shot corner
Salt, lime and a small glass of tequila: it is the spot to come back to between one dance and the next. See the shot corner.
Tequila tower
A tower of small tequila glasses, from which a round of shots goes out to the guests. The tequila, what goes with it and the moment of the party when it arrives are decided together. It is the round that calls everyone up to the counter. See the tequila tower.
For a favourite drink: gin bar and beer corner
Some guests have a favourite drink and, between one cocktail and the next, always come back to it. The gin bar is given over to the gin and tonic, served in glass with clear ice and fresh citrus, and it can become a tequila bar. The beer corner is the beer station, for anyone who prefers a cold beer to a cocktail.
The details that run through the whole bar
Besides the corners there are the details, which run through the whole bar. Ice with your logo carries the couple’s monogram inside the glass; the logo on the drink is printed straight onto the cocktail; the side is the cocktail you eat, as a jelly or in fresh fruit. And there is the signature drink, created for your wedding.
- Ice with your logo: the logo or monogram pressed into clear ice. In the Luxury level it is already included.
- Logo on the drink: printed onto the drink with a machine of ours.
- The side: a jelly that tastes of the drink, or fresh fruit, such as watermelon, that soaks up the cocktail. It goes with the signature drinks.
- Signature drinks: cocktails created for one event only, with the menu printed. How the menu is chosen is in our guide to the wedding cocktail menu.
How many corners to choose
Better a few corners, each tied to a moment, than many scattered about. Every corner takes its own space, and the ones where drinks are made also take their own team. To choose, start from what your guests drink, from how long the party lasts and from how much room the venue has.
- What do your guests drink? If many prefer beer, the beer corner. If everybody’s drink is the gin and tonic, the gin bar.
- How long does the party last? If the bar stays open into the night, the dancing corners make sense: the shot corner and the tequila tower.
- What is dinner like? With a seated dinner, the bar cart brings the cocktails to the tables.
- Are any guests travelling from abroad? At the end of dinner they often ask for the espresso martini.
More stations mean a bigger team, even with the same number of guests. We explain it in our guide to how many bartenders you need for a wedding.
How they are added to the quote
The corners are added to the open bar quote, and they are chosen together when we prepare it. On the quote form you can already tick the ones you are interested in, more than one if you like, and write any ideas of your own in the message: we reply within 24 hours.
All the extras, each with its own page, are on the extras page. What the open bar costs to start with is in our guide to how much a wedding bar costs in Italy, and everything else is on our wedding bar service page. When you are ready, write to us from the quote page.
